  1. Nope lowes isn't going to carry what you need. If you can't get to me then check with Nick at Rose city, Patrick at SWF or Nano Reef and see if they have them. I'm sure other stores might also.

If you can make it to me I will give you the whole overflow box and U-tube along with the stockman standpipe I built for it to make it quiet. Handles up to 600 gph. It was running on my first 55 gal tank.

  2. Erica,

I have two 40 gallon breeders that you can have. They are 36L x 18W x 16H. One is drilled in the back but the back is cracked around one of the holes but it holds water up to 10 inches deep. The other is brand new.

I have two 20 gallon talls that are 24L x 12W X 16H. Both are used but not drilled.

    I also have an a tank that is I believe 24 x 24 x 12. Used not drilled.

Let me know if you want them. I live over by Dave (barelycuda)so if you are picking up from him I can meet you over there or we can work something out.

  3. Your tanks are still fairly young and I am not saying that you couldn't possibly have some underlying issue but tanks go through cycles not like cycling but maturing. You're going to get algea outbreaks, cyano and other things as your tank matures and settles down.

It has happened to me everytime I set a tank up. I get diatom outbreaks and all kinds of crazy things in the first year but water reads fine. Usually in a couple weeks it works itself out.

Just thought I'd throw that out there before you go pulling your hair trying to find out what's going on.

But that only works in conjunction with this type of overflow box. If you have just a standard overflow I don't believe the pump is going to help you. I've had overflow boxes and yes they are a pain but as long as you keep them clean then you shouldn't have any issues with them. Get a bottle brush and clean the u-tube and overflow once a month as part of your standard maintenance and yes you'll have to suck on a piece of airline tubing to get a siphon restarted.

Drilling your tank is preferable though.

  5. Just wanted to know if we are supposed to get a membership card when we join...I rejoined the club last week online and I know that some of the LFS give a small discount to members...soooo how do we show them that we are members???

Send a PM to "TheJenChild". Jen is the club secretary/treasurer and handles the membership cards. She has been awful busy lately and I believe is only mailing them out once a month. So if you don't get it in a couple weeks send me a PM and I will see what I can do.

I am sure most LFS will give your discount if you ask. If they need proof see if they can look you up on here until you get yours in the mail.

  6. How do I get the time and locations of the next meetings? Thanks to you all

If you haven't yet send a PM to Roy (Stylaster) with your email address. He will add you to the electronic invitation list. Every month you'll recieve an E-vite telling you when and where the next meeting is going to be.

  7. If you are trying to get a hold of James your best bet is an email from his website Envision Acrylics. Give it a couple days but he will get back to you. Just know he is super busy on a couple big projects until November time frame last time I talked to him.
