  1. Makes me want to chuck my 10 gallon freshwater setup(I have an aquarium limit) then make it a cold water oregonian biotope
  2. Dang I'd love a RBTA but I need another 5 months of age on my tank and need to worry about it stinging corals.. Well my hopefully-to-be-boughten clown pair may need to enjoy a torch, it will still sting other corals but it won't move..
  3. Welcome You have much more FW experience than I have, I had a 10 gallon planted tank before my reef. My plants aren't even doing well(need to fertilize and startup my CO2 yeast reactor again) but I have a nice start of a reef
  4. Thanks dsoz for pointing me to this forum, and for the dedicated help
  5. Thats cool What Id love to do si get myself to Eugen and bring $80 Sometime that'll happen
  6. I think I've gotten it taken care off If not I'll post again and make it more enticing of an offer.
  7. Well it's another wonderul worry now I'll be getting a new one back,I'm home most of the time due to being homeschooled. But if I sometimes like in a year from now of loving reefing do a 55 gallon I will have an aqua controller junior for sure. Then I can have 2 heaters and all the other wonders of automation.
  8. I don't really have the money right now :( I have enough to pay for a frag pack thats about it. Whats weird is my tetra heater thats been running for 8 months has been working well(constant 78F) in my planted FW 10 gallon community tank. I'll look into a heater controller or would the titanium heater work ?
  9. Well I have an old fashioned alcohol thermometer atleast it didn't kill anything. The cheapest heater you can buy is working better than my stealth heater.
  10. So does that happen that oftren for heaters ? It was set to 75F the tank was a constant 78F. Then my red shroom(more sensitive) got small very small. My tanks tempeture was 85F ! So I have the top open and have my trusted preset to 78F 100 watt cheapo tetra stealth heater in the tank. Dr foster and smith is going to replace it,the women was a tightwad of the elite tighwads but I'm getting a shipping label Man if I had the tank hit 90F I woulda had dead shrooms and another tank cycle (nutty)
  11. Alright another bump,I got 2 awesome offers for free frags but I can't be driven more than 2 or so hours round trip :( I'm willing to pay $65 to make it more worth your time to ship them and make some extra money...
  12. Thanks dsoz I'll PM you when I get some zoanthids, Garret,I'd love to come down but I can't. I already have a PM about getting some free frags in Eugene but II can't even get that far. For the QT tank I will do a 10 gallon sometime, but I will have to get rid of my little 10 gallon FW planted tank(nooo!,those fish are nice the tetras and the green it's so nice :jester: ) since my dad has a strict limit :(
  13. I have just seen a good amount of threads on the "horrors" of zoa pox,zoa fungus and other things. I don't really want to buy furan and iodine for dipping right now.. But I'd love to get a few frags I guess the chance of disease is very low and by the time I get something like that I'll have a collection of them. If I eventually have $70 into zoanthids I may aswell put some money for insurance of their health.
  14. I'll mention to him about a group of reefers meeting if you have one in roseburg. I will tell him(provided one happens in roseburg) just not in that wording
  15. Well my tank is ready for corals,I'm wanting to go online from other members since my fish store is super expensive for softies.. I'd like to buy a frag pack thats idiot proof and I have no preferences. My only 2 conditions are that I'm not wanting to put much money in zoanthids due to their ability to get diseased easily. For leathers I don't want to keep them with LPS due to their toxins, that they secrete unless you have LPS as neighbors . (some species are more toxic to LPS than others) I'd love to get a pack for $50 shipped I'm hoping i'll get a good shipping rate ($20-$30) since I'm in the pacific northwest.
  16. Well after going through this crazy(and expensive) trip this is what I've gotten so far : The tank has been setup with LR since June 15... For stocking plans I'm stuck with my LFS so I'm going for the False Perc pair($40) and some sort of active neat looking goby. My tank's focuse will be softies and maybe some LPS. I'm now sorta just looking on where to buy corals, since my fish store is outrageously priced for softies like $30 for small green star polyp frags. Ps thanks for the cheato Krisswaters,I just need your address since I want to confirm it.
  17. If there is ever a possibility of being close to the Coos Bay area I'd love to go I'm strapped down for anything outside of Coos county or possibility a hour away since I have 5 siblings now DOH!
  18. Yay! I got the cheato thanks Kris Well phase 2 is complete my water is perfect nitrates are 5-10,the cheato will lower it further.. Phase three is a clean up crew, 4 is corals and fish I'll post a want to buy coral thread soon I may cheat and do corals and fish before the CUC since I'm ordering the snails..
  19. I was initially very scared about spending $500(not easy to earn money for my age) into a reef setup,I thought about going ultra cheap(10 gallon, cheapo lighting base rock) but then I thought "A little more money then I can get much something better." I did alot of research to make myself feel somewhat confident
  20. Photoshop,I prefer full blown computer modeling, rigging,UV mapping and all those goodies Thats great though, like the haunted xenia tree :P
  21. Now that would be interesting..
  22. Thanks My cycle is almost over,.25 to .5 ammonia with 0 nitrites and 20 nitrates. I have killed most of the hydroids but now I have those hydoids that have long white tentacles so I need a syringe to fill their holes with kalk. I can get a syringe easy, the feed store knows me and my siblings since I used to have goats and my sister has a horse(way more expensive than a medium sized reef tank )..
  23. Hmm I'm still a newbie at this,I guess I must have screwed up/mixed numbers(I must have misread). That sounds logical, since the animal is working against osmosis thus a lower SG should help, since cells have to expend a good amount of energy for "anti osmosis". Sorry for sorta hijacking the thread..
  24. I still have my cycle(.5 ammonia,0nitrites and 18 nitrates) :( In a few weeks I'll post a newbie corals wanted post...
