  1. Hmmm... it might be too much food. I feed the clowns twice a day, usually a mixture brine shrimp, plankton, and flakes. I have a protein skimmer with a nitrate removal pad in it.
  2. I have a 30 high aquarium, without a sump (thats a future project, maybe). I got the tank already established from someone else, but it was neglected for a while with an eel in it, so the nitrates from that were probably high. I have had it myself for about 4 months. I don't think the water was changed in over a year before I got it. It has 2 clowns, a goby, 3 snails, 4 hermits, 5 nassarius, 2 bta's. Is a sump something that can be added without cutting/drilling/slicing/gouging?
  3. Thanks for all the help so far, I'm loving this noob forum. So I can't get my nitrates at bay. I've done 50% water changes with RO water, but they just climb back up to 80-100ppm within a short time. What can I do? Has anyone ever used AZ Nitrate Eliminator? It supposedly clumps it up and takes it out with the protein skimmer. Does it work, or just another snake oil? I have several corals and two BTAs (it split just this weekend!) and I'm worried the high nitrate levels is bad for them, but the constant 50% water change will shock them. Thanks again!
  4. spaghetti worms, thats it. I looked it up on google images. That is what I have. Pretty cool looking dudes, I didn't realize those hairs were attached to a worm. Marine aquariums are down right amazing things, huh?
  5. Hello! So I bought a chunk of live rock and it has this little clump of these orange hair-like fellas on part of it. They stretch out really far and grab things. They look pretty cool, but they are grabbing some of my corals and yanking on them. What are they? should I be worried?
  6. Awesome, thanks guys. Also, I have some star polyps and zooanthids. Are they kosher with just lighting? What kind of supplements and additives should I be giving them?
  7. Hey guys (and maybe gals) great page. I'm a teacher getting into the hobby with hopes of setting up a cool tank in my classroom one day. Here's my question: The live rock I got for my tank has a lot of different filter feeders on it. What is the best way to feed them? I've seen the Kent Marine products for filter feeders, which are significantly cheaper than the live stuff. Does it still work? What would you all suggest? Thanks for the help!
  8. Hello Folks- I have a pair of False Perculas that I'd like to match with an anemone. If anyone has a Bubble anemone they are willing to sell, I'm your buyer. Also, to kill two birds, I'm looking for some nice beginner corals as well. Reply to this post or email me. Thanks!
