I have been looking for a female emerald crab. Do you know if yours is a male or female?

Any one have any experience with mangrove substrate? I like the idea of the reef mud because it seems to be their natural substrate but it is expensive and I want to make sure the results would justify the expense.

Mine crusted over had and algae growing on it. there were even chunks falling off it. I moved it to a lower light area of my tank and increased the water flow. Now it has completely recovered.

When these are eating pieces of algae they loolk just like Kokopelli. I could spend all day watching these things.

Under white light these look brown under actinic they look green.

If you want to sell the mangroves let me know. Why are you selling all the tanks?

I don't think it is shrooms. It has a leathery texture. Nyles is probably right. the shrooms on that rock are nor as spread out as the ones of the same type on the next rock over. To bad it can be invasive. It is kind of pretty.

Dose any one know what these are? They have been spreading under my mushrooms on this rock.

Yes well dreams can quickly be shattered by reality. The cost of setting up this tank and the dispute over placement have lead to a compromise. If I can sell this tank I can use the money to buy the supplies I need to set up the 40 stretch hex where I want it.

Wow I was just trying to figure out how I was going to hook up RO unit in my house and that idea will work perfectly. Dose any one know where to find a good inexpensive RO unit?

I set up a 25gal tank that I plan to use as a quarantine tank once the 75/55 refugium is complete. How long should I wait before putting any live rock into the tank. Salinity,PH,and temperature are stable. There are some nitrares present but the level is relativley low.

Ok ao the bath tub plan is a bust. I was able to look at the support under the tub and there is no way that it will support the weight of two tanks. So I am back to building a stand for the kitchen.

Logic reigns supreme in my house. I think the argument about leaks draining into the bath tub and not was the clincher. Getting the 75gal and 55gal tanks for free helped with the initial argument for starting a reef tank. But most of all I am lucky enough to have a wife who recognizes when I am really excited and passionate about doing something and is willing to support or at least tolerate my enthusiasm.

So I just thought of something that would make this sump plan a mute point. My wife is ok with me setting up a reef tank and is going to let me design it the way that I want but her stipulation was over placement of the tank in our home. I have not been super happy with the placement of the reef tank against the wall at the end of our kitchen because unless I go to look at it I wont see it as much as I would like to. There is also no good sitting area to view the tank from. I had just been discussing this with my wife when I took a break to answer natures call and the idea struck me. Why don't I build a stand/false wall over the bath tub/built in shower adjacent to the loo and put the tank there. Comfortable sitting area. Lots of viewing opportunity. Easy access to water/drain for water changes and plumbing for a water top off system. And if the tank were to leak it would just drain down the bath tub instead of wreaking havoc on my floor. I off handedly mentioned the idea to my wife and she seemed to think the idea sounded pretty good. The only problem is that the 55gal won't fit in the tub so I will have to get another tank for the refugium ad the refugium will no longer be visible.
