  1. I have a huge frickin' Dolphin pump. Turns out my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I bit off more than I can chew. Ryan can attest to what a monster this is. I'd like to get $90- exactly what I paid for it. It comes with a new set of seals too.

    Which pump is it?

  2. Yup... I bought 2 from him when he changed to Sequence pumps. The seal is the key to the motors not leaking. The marine abrasive seals are made of a harder compound that will not scratch from the smaller particles.

    Hey stranger!

5+ years? That's pretty good. Is that the pump you got from Steve?

For $100 it better last that long. I'll have to look into those.

I have changed out at least 10 seals on sequence/dolphin pumps in the last few months at the store. The factory seals don't last long.

  3. agree with reefnjunkie... When I had deep water acros, I kept them low in the tank or somewhere where direct light is not hitting the corals. they can turn brown with too much light.

  4. Undertsand where you are coming from and sucks when crap like this happens.. even at Franks house but turned out to be a happy ending... but just gets harder. Good luck with your trades!

No...but I think I have met you perhaps. I am the guy that wears an oxygen bottle and lives just off of St Johns.

Its not that I dont want to meet anyone new. Im just paranoid about internet friends. You really never know who is at the keyboard on the other end right...could be Jeffrey Daumers long lost twin brother.....You heaRD ABOUT THE CRAIGSLIST MURDERS LATELY?.

Ok lets do this.....if someone else that knows me can vouch for you and has met you and they want some nice fast pulsing pink xenia then I will do it but will meet you away from my house till I get to know you.

I dont think this is unreasonable. And I bet everyone else understands.

Call me paranoid or whatever... Im really just a homeowner that is fed up with all the low life in our society robbing and ripping people off to get by in life.

  5. Way to go Frank!

Glad to hear things are turning around, and I hope the future is bright for you and your family

are you kidding Tim!! He'll probably be taking more pictures of your new corals now that he is closer to you... Now I have to go to your store when you open so i can put pieces on reserve. (clap)

  6. I'm looking into an auto feeder (dry food of course :)) after reading the tank of the month on another board. The guy uses an auto feeder to feed smaller portion of food through out the day which sounds like a better way to feed your fishes.. So I'm wondering if anyone locally is using an auto feeder and which one do you recommend?

    Thanks

    Jim

  7. Thansk movinfast. May take you up on the offer.

I like to replace my VHO for mainly the heat it produces. 6 x 160W does produce some heat and with the MH on, my tank can go up by 6 degrees. I do have fans in the hood to move the hot air out and a chiller to keep it cool and the sump is kept in a 65 degrees room. So anything to reduce heat will be great.. and some electricity if possible.

  8. Just wondering what you would do if you had a choice of LED or VHO for supplementing your actinic? The cost is coming down and maybe with LED, you don't need to cover the same length as your VHO bulbs.

I'm currently running 6 x 6' (160W each) Super Actinic VHO and do replace them every year. If I can get the same result with less LED strips, heck, why not. They wil pay off right???

  9. if you use the white ones, then i'm concerned why they are black and charred. Might be a connection issue in the caps..

As for bulbs, I have used ones, but they are 6ft long each. If that works for you, they are yours. Or they will find themselves to the hazadous waste station.

  10. Thank you jackaninny... That's a very comprehensive manual. I'm interested in the programming side of the device. I updated my lighting control to minic that of the Sunrise/Sunset and my moon light to the moon cycle. Just want to know what else I can do... next is to setup the breakout box for water detector sensors and water level detector.

  11. Thanks Kim (not Beth). :) They are good at helping, but just wanted a manual on hand that I can read without a magnifying glass so I don't need their help.

I have been programming my unit and really do like it.. I'm going to extend my unit to also monitor my kids freshwater tank.
