  7. I've been doing that to the 3 in my tank once a week for 3 months now and it hasn't killed one of them' date=' i must have a super strain or something![/quote']

yeah, must be some extra toughies. sounds like they're big. mine were pretty small. I covered the whole dude with paste, a little over the size of a dime around and maybe 3 dimes thick. the chunk of paste probably didn't dissolve for almost a week (maybe only three days, its been awhile) but it was there for awhile. i never saw them again. Good luck!!

  8. You don't need to get an anemone. I'm convinced my clowns don't do my anemones much good. They are definitaly better after being together for over a year but still will steal the mysis shrimp I feed to my anemones if the anemone doesn't suck it up fast enough. They also get very excited when any other fish come near and do the over zealous anemone rub. When I first put them together (anemones and clownfish) I left for a few days vacation and came back to a tentacle-less anemone. I'm convinced the clownfish was peeved without food for a days, was used to eating the anemone food, and ate the tentacles. All info I've read regarding this says it doesn't happen, but I don't know how else to explain it. The fish won't let anything else near the anemone. My clownfish are tank raised.

  9. I have rose bubble tips and a green bubble tip that i've had for over a year. the RBTA has split a few times as has the green. My green has never moved (except for his splits) and didn't split until i aimed a powerhead at him in attempt to get him move. He split twice over the course of the next few days. My reds move a bit more and split every few months, but I think its a feeding thing. I think they'd split more if I fed more. I wish I could remember the thread but I read on the reef tank of a guy who could consistently reproduce splitting in his anemones with a regimen of feeding followed by a large water change. I think he fed two to four times a week for a few weeks and then did a 20ish percent water change and induced splitting consistently in over 70% of his anemones. Check out some pictures of steve weast's tank (oregonreef.com i think for old pics, search this site for new ones). He started with a rose bta or two and now has a garden!

This site http://www.karensroseanemones.com/ is an excellent anemone resource in my opinion. I have yet to prove her wrong.

I love my anemones, sometimes they upset me with the occasional coral burn or whatever. would definitaly be sweet to have an anemone only tank. or an anemone mostly tank

I'm sure you can find a tank raised. I think upscales has them occasionally. I'll have one for sale if my recent rose split ever comes out from hiding. Have fun!

  10. This lecture was on a holiday weekend. That probably took a chunk out of the attendees. We have long standing plans every year this weekend and I'm sure lots of other folks had stuff going on. I like borneman but had no desire to hear about salt and O2. To sit through a lecture my ADD self has to be really interested in the topic. As reefgeek put it, my salt works fine.

I'd like to see more things locally in my area. Im in eugene and the four hour round trip to portland for a meeting is a long one. I've got to be pretty excited about the event to make it. It seems like you could have local LFS involved setting up monthly meetings in your particular area (open to all of course) and then every two or three months have a big one in the portland area. I think a tour of tanks would be sweet. I know there are beautiful tanks in eugene that I'll never get to see otherwise. I'd have people to my house for some potluck afternoon of tank drooling, frag exchange, and senseless eating.

In my area the LFS's dont have much to do with this club. None of them ever told me about it. I found it randomly searching the web. Seems mostly a place to sell stuff.

  11. i have some green mushrooms in my tank that ive smeared and cut off the rock multiple times in an attempt to kill them off and limit their colony. its of little use' date=' even smearing them into paste eventually begets more mushrooms. i doubt you can go wrong with a razor blade.[/quote']

no doubt! I have some hairy mushrooms that just won't die. scraped, smashed, smothered, and back they come. guess ill have to take out the rock if i really want them gone.
