Just kidding! Shop vac sounds like a great Idea. How much water does a flick of the switch suck in? I have four of the buggers to get out.

The only time you want to use silicone is if you have a damaged tank and even then you really need to know how to apply and handle it becasue it can do more damage than good. Once it cures if you twist the bulkhead even a little bit the silicone can mess up the gaskets ability to seat properly.

Hmm...never had a problem with that.

I always use a little silicone. Haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood).

Yep..this just happend to me also. I had my Iwaki wmd40rxlt lock up. Had to pull it (PIA) and soak it in vinegar also. Not a fun thing to wake up to. Preventative maintainence is MUCH eaiser.

I have 250W double ended bulbs in ReefOptix III pendants. If I had it all to do over again, I would go with the 250W Single ended bulbs in mini lumenarc or ReefOptix I reflectors.

I just recieved a brand new, VHO, 46.5", URI, 50/50 bulb yesterday. I put it over my tank and am not fond of the color. Does anyone have a new or newer 46.5", SuperActinicR , 110W bulb that they would like to swap for my 50/50???

The first pic is from July of 2003 and the second pic is from December of 2005. So that is about 2 and 1/2 years growth.
