  1. Safety First

Soak in vinegar or bleach for the tank' date=' vinegar for the pumps. You could also pick up some muratic acid, that will kill anything. I think pool suppliers sell it.[/quote']

I shouldn't have to say it- Never mix bleach with vinegar or muriatic acid...

  2. i had thought i heard those kits where unreliable. I use a seachem CA test and I'm pretty happy with it.

Having used both Salifert and Seachem and my experience as a chemist- I would take the Salifert test kit any day over the Seachem. Just my two cents.

  3. Beach combing has always been the main attraction for me at the coast. I hear people whining that they never find any cool shells' date=' I always find a ton. On my last trip to the beach I brought back about thirty fossilized shells.[/quote']

    Which beach?

Maybe this thread should be a "what's your favorite place to tidepool, beachcomb, snorkel or dive" thread. Just keep it to the Pacific Northwest.

Mine is Whitney Point, just north of Dosewallops on Hood Canal.

  4. a good rep or a bad rep? I have read alot of bad things about the remoras... anyone know about the CPR?

I've got a CPR bak pak 2R... It works fine- I haven't used any other skimmer so I really can't say it works better or worse than something else.

  5. "I am not a member of PNNWMAS, so I don't think can just show up.

What do they do in PNNWMAS meeting anyway?"

This was sent to me in a PM from a local reefer. I thought I would post it to start another discussion on what new folks could expect at the meetings.

I told him he would be very welcome at the meeting, and wanted to encourage him to stop in.

  6. I thought I should post one of my pets...

This is Eli. He's a human.

He was pretty upset when Mom decided to take pictures instead of rescuing him when he crawled in.

This is Frances (weiner dog)- the actual occupant of the kennel.
