I've had a better time with the bullet 2 w/pcx40, than my aqua c ev 180 w/mag6 or mag 3(?). I had the aqua c ev 180, and it did an ok job, but you had to clean it out every time, and I think the beckett style is kinda cheezy to me. The bullet 2 did out perform the aqua c, but the bullet 2 is rated for a larger tank, so that has to be factored in. Not to mention that even though the bullet was dirty, it still performed great (but not to the best of its ability). I was even using the old style beckett on it! The bullet 2 for me didn't cause me any troubles once I set it correctly, but the guy I sold it to had problems with it (he was new to the hobby). Maybe the gate valve wasn't working, maybe he just didn't know how to set it right, I don't know. But, if you know what you are doing, then the bullet series is a GREAT product and better than an aqua c ev series with my experiences.

reverse lighting will help the pH stay more consistant at night, if you have a fuge attached. It produces O2 and less CO2 is released which lowers pH.

Well I'll take the November meeting. Might have to make a cap on the attendees, I only live in my apartment. I can do a "lecture" on nano tanks and phyto and zooplankton culturing. And let people see the difference with tanks that are fed with phyto.

mine are still drying out since it's been cold. I checked a few of the plugs and the sand didn't stick as well as I thought. Maybe since I used some damp sand. Once things dry up I'll post some pics.

Hey Miles, I just did my share of plugs last night. I had all of my ingredients, but went flying by the seat of my pants (no real recipe). So we will see how they turn out. I'll take pics once they dry.

Do these work with different temperature bulbs, or do they only run good 'ole 6500K?

Sol, you can do both chromis and anthias (like how Mike suggested) they are almost always found together in the upper reefs. I've got my anthias with chromis and they don't show any aggresion. Only the dominate male will show his "manliness" to the chromis if they get in his way. But I agree with Mike, get some anthias!

I tried a reef tank that had a Hawaiian Theme with the fish. I had some yellow pyramid butterflies, and a flame, potter's, and fisher's centropyge angels all in a 120. I also had naso tangs, desumieri tang, and a disappering wrasse (but was never shy). I hope you keep it a Hawaiian theme like how I kept mine. There is much more possibilities and there are also a couple of puffers from Hawaii as well. But there are no clownfish from Hawaii (unless they were released from people's tanks).

Well, last night I fed my tank live baby brine for both my anthias and my sps. I've notice major PE while feeding which lasted about an hour. I did several small doses so I could keep the food constant. It was awesome watching my anthias feed constantly like how they would in the wild. It was very easy to do as long as you get good quality decapsulated eggs, a plankton screen, air pump, air line tubing, and a 2 liter bottle. Simple. I think I will keep feeding at least several times a week. Anyone else do this?

I believe it's a montipora undata. You know, with the bright green polyps. I was there when you got them DAN. Curtis can vouch for the same thing.

Well, in the first pic if you look in the bottom left corner it says "Pseudanthias spp." meaning that it is an unidentified species in the Pseudanthias genus. On the next page of the magazine however, it shows and identifies Pseudanthias squamipinnis. And the picture in the mag. and the pic of the tank are identical. That is why I am asking this question. It also came in as "assorted anthias" from the wholesaler. I've got this same thread in the Reef Fishes section of RC. So we'll see.

Ryan, I got them from Joel. Might I add that they are eatting great and appreaciate my multiple feedings per HOUR.

I've just got in these anthias, they came into the LFS that I trust as an "assorted" anthias. They look like Pseudanthias Squamipinnis (Lyretail), but the famales look more of an overall maroon/redish color instead of yellow/orange. The center of the scales are yellow, with the rim being purple. They also have the lines from behind the eye to the pectoral fin. The center line is yellow/orange and is inbetween two light purple/lavender lines. There is a good picture of them in the Coral Magazine Vol. 3, Number 4, Corals: Sexual Propagation in the Aquarium; on pg. 78. The picture is of the anthias, if not, then the closest looking anthias to the ones that I have. If only Ellen Thaler, photographer of the anthias in question, could have something to say about this.
