AquaticEngineer Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Well I'm upgrading my current tank setup and am doing my own retro fit for halides. I was curious if anyone knew of a good place to get thin polished aluminum for a reflector? I'm gonna end up needing a piece about 24inches by 16 inches. Quote
andy Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Parkrose Hardware here in Vancouver stocks it ($30 for a 4'x5' sheet, a bargain); I'll bet the one on Sandy (across from SWF) does too. If you don't want a full sheet, I have some excess I can sell/trade to you. LMK. Quote
reef165 Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 you could also get a solar tube extention from lowes or home depot. Quote
spectra Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 you could also get a solar tube extention from lowes or home depot. That is a great idea those things are like a mirror inside(rock2) Plus they are already round you just cut them in half and you have an instant reflector. Quote
AquaticEngineer Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Scored a 36 inch relflector from a guy on craigslist with PC clips in it for $10, just had to cut it down to size(clap) Quote
racefan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Another place might be Began truck repair. It is a tanker truck repair shop & it's located in the same parking lot as Sea Horse Aquarium Supply in Portland. They may sell some scrap pieces. Quote
wanareef Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 You gonna to build one of these http://www.reefdiversity.com/DIYPage/DIY_HTML/DIY_ReflectorIndex.htm that solar tube would work really nice for this. I have the pattern printed out if you need a copy. Quote
