Question about sumps

I'm setting up a 50 gallon cube reef tank and would like to know what the difference is between the wet dry sumps with bio balls as apposed to the sumps with the filter sock? I have a wet dry w/ bio balls now and it's way to big for the stand I made. So I'm in the market for something smaller and had just planned on putting an aga down below for my skimmer and pumps. So whatever ideas and answers you guys have would be most appreciated. (scratch)

sump

I've alway's used a simple sump with filter socks or pads. Never seen the need for Bio Balls. If you have enough live rock in your tank, you don't need Bio Balls. I have a sump I could sell you pretty cheap that would probably work for you...If you need one let me know, and I'll get you the diminsions. (sump is in storage).
