defigart
I have a Regal Blue Tang (about 6") that I have had for about a week. He is in a 55 gallon tank, with a Royal Gramma, a Yellow Tang (about 4"), a Ocellaris Clown, and a Heniochus acuminatus. The Blue Tang is still "hiding" as best he can in/around a coral skeleton. Any ideas?
Reefin'
Is the yellow tang pickin on it? They can get a little bullyish. Maybe remove the yellow tang temporarily
diverdown
IMO a 6" blue tang is too large for a 55 gallon tank.
defigart
diverdown, I agree. He is going in a larger tank in a month or so. All these fish were acquired at the same time from the same vendor, and are in quarentine. Doran

jptrson
Try putting a mirror next to the tank to keep the yellow tang busy bullying himself and might ignore the blue tang.
defigart
Update: I moved the Yellow Tang. Blue Tang is coming out periodically, and is eating. If you are careful, and don't make alot of noise when entering the room, you can see him swimming around. But as soon as he sees or "hears" you he tries to hide. (I took most of his hiding places out as well. Thanks again for the help.
andy
I don't think removing the hiding places is a good idea. The fish is trying to hide because it's feeling stressed, moving the hiding place just adds to the stress.
defigart
Took most of the hiding places. This makes it easier to find him. He still has a few places to hide.
andy
I understand, but I still think reducing the places for a skittish fish to hide won't help the situation and could make things worse. YMMV.
