I have a Regal Blue Tang (about 6") that I have had for about a week. He is in a 55 gallon tank, with a Royal Gramma, a Yellow Tang (about 4"), a Ocellaris Clown, and a Heniochus acuminatus.

The Blue Tang is still "hiding" as best he can in/around a coral skeleton. Any ideas?

diverdown,

I agree. He is going in a larger tank in a month or so. All these fish were acquired at the same time from the same vendor, and are in quarentine.

Sounds like stress if this is just a QT you my try dimming or leaving lights off to see if it lesson's stress but it may not act normal untill moved into the larger system just make sure its eating and hope it dosnt break out with ick.

Update:

I moved the Yellow Tang. Blue Tang is coming out periodically, and is eating. If you are careful, and don't make alot of noise when entering the room, you can see him swimming around. But as soon as he sees or "hears" you he tries to hide. (I took most of his hiding places out as well.

Thanks again for the help.

I don't think removing the hiding places is a good idea. The fish is trying to hide because it's feeling stressed, moving the hiding place just adds to the stress.

I understand, but I still think reducing the places for a skittish fish to hide won't help the situation and could make things worse. YMMV.
