WestSideReefer
Hi. My tank is over two years old. Parameters are stable and I’m dosing all for reef so I figured I’d try my hand at easy SPS’s. I’m seeing growth at the base and tips on all the small frags I got at Cuttlefish(thanks Pete and Albert). I’m getting some leafy looking algae growing on one of the birdsnests. It is pictured on the first and second pic. Should I remove it? I’ve included some of the other corals. LMK if anything looks off. Thanks in advance. Krux
I have a bit of that as well and nothing in my tank seems to eat it so I pull it whenever I can. Probably an urchin or something would enjoy it, but my snails, crabs, tang, lawnmower, and parrotfish all cruise right by.
Kerbash
I think these are the sea lettuce, ulva? I have them in the fuge but they pretty much stay there for me so I dont know how bad they are.
Eatfrenchfries
Definitely remove the ulva as it can be quite invasive in a reef. As you can see it is already hampering coral growth by growing on fresh tips (skeleton). But it does make excellent export. If a nutrient issue arises, it could take hold and become unruly. It is the most palatable of all the algae. It'll grow faster than most CUC can eat it. Fish would be preferable. Manual export is advised. Some species of ulva are sought in culture. It can be quite a tool
WestSideReefer
Thanks all for the advise. My lawnmower blenny, sea urchin, and cuc won’t touch the stuff. The tank is too small for the tang gang. I’ll remove manually.
