Zoa Placement

New to keeping zoas and have several Zoa colonies in my tank that have been closing up during mid-day lighting. Two small colonies are on frag discs and have been moving away from the top of the disc and down the side towards the rock it's on.

Is this a sign of too much light? They do not have strong flow...

best to start in lower light.  See how they respond.  If they are stretching to reach the light.... giv'em some more....  zoas are low par corals for the most part.  It does vary, but overall.. they tend to want to be in the lower par range.

I have a few zoas and I just toss them in the tank and go from there . A bunch are in high lighted areas and do fine. I do have a plug of sunny ds that are looking for light and stretched out but they are directly under it in 12 inches of water and have not shrunk down......Zoas are a different species and think it just takes a little playing with to figure it out.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
