Gas exchange?

OK thanks I have sea twirls but ones not turning so I have both of them pointing into the tank for flow. But I have a bigger skimmer then I really need and the overflow pipe is dumping into the sump so I have more exchange there

The gas exchange in the skimmer happens internally, when the bubbles mix with the water -- the surface area of all those bubbles is far, far greater than the surface area of the tank or the sump. The bubbles are not only stripping dissolved organics, they're also oxygenating the water.

The gassier the better! Not something my wife would necessarily agree with, but oh well.

It is a huge factor in the chemical reactions that are taking place all day long in a reef tank...expelling excess Co2, stirring Oxygen, and much much more:)
