pnkrcklives
Just got a used RO/DI unit. The manufacturer says 3-1 water ratio. Looks more like 4-1 right now. Do you think new filters would help at all? This making water is really really slow. How do you all keep up on water changes especially with large tanks. MVPaquatics
Seems right. Some are even worse at 6-7 to 1. It is based on temp too. It will flow faster in summer than winter. Key to large tanks is storage and atockpile haha. Hoard that RO!
pnkrcklives
Yeah the water is pretty cold 62 degrees. It says optimal temp is 70-77 degrees. With the new 300 gallon tank coming. I better get some barrels and start hoarding. Good thing I am going cold water so I wont have to worry so much about evaporation just water changes. Barelycuda
Definitely what Mike said. If you are only 4:1 in the winter time consider yourself lucky. Changing the filters most likely will not change the reject ratio, that typically occurs in the RO membrane itself. If you are unsure of the filters age it may not hurt to change them anyway from a water quality standpoint. If you need large qty's of water you may want to consider a 55g drum and a float switch. Gabe
I have noticed better ratio with clean filters. Maybe the cleaner the water to the membrane there will be less rejection. Also, if you run your prefilter water line (50' coil) through your heated waterchage barrel you will always have warm water to your filter. wanareef
I use three 55gal drums for my ro/di water needs, guess I'm a hoarder and didn't even know it. I deny it - I'm just storing ro/di for the tank
