vanz
Okay...I have this problem. There's red slime...not sure if it's algae....all over the inside of my overflow. There's bubbles in it. Started ever since I added the overflow/sump to my system. The overflow is in the back middle, directly under my lights. It's like a thick mat of goo. This is only in the overflow, no where else. impur
Sounds like cyano. Can you put a towel or something over it so it doesn't get any light? That should kill it off in a day.
andy
How long has the tank been up? Excess cyano can be a part of tank maturation, or a sign of excess nutrients in the water column in a mature tank.
vanz
tank has been up for 2 years now. I only feed like once every couple of days if that. I'll try covering up the overflow, been meaning to when algae started growing in the u-tube.
oldbrownies
just put a sheet of aluminium foil over the whole thing, that will keep light from getting there
vanz
I'm going to buy the black krylon fusion paint and spray paint it. I've read that it's reef safe once dried. Correct me if I'm wrong.
