Islandoftiki
Ok, so after a couple of months of successful operation, my 2 gallon pico tank is starting to grow what I believe are sponges. I have three or four blueish-black sponges about 5mm-7mm in diameter. Additionally, I see a new white sponge growing on one the rocks, and also on the roots of my red mangrove. The white sponge is in awkward location to get a picture and is only about 4mm in diameter and about 3mm high, but here's a photo of the blueish-black sponges. Are these good? Bad? Keep 'em or remove them? Growth rate appears to be slow.
Gill
They are a good sign that your system is healthy . They like to grow in the darker places so the won't bother corals. I have actually paid good money for sponge covered rocks.
