Digital Aquatics Customer Service for RK Elite - Battery Question

I purchased my RKE a couple months ago, but was waiting for the new tank to get set up before I put it all together. I spent several hours last Friday, and it's all programmed now, ready to be taken downstairs and plugged in. (clap)

 

It came with a teeny battery - CR1216 - in the unit. The battery was dead. After 7 stores, I finally found one. I've been trying to get ahold of DA customer service to ask why they would actually install the battery in the unit, since it died, and also that is how corrosion starts.

 

Does anyone have a number that you can actually get through? I just have the 425 number from their web site. No one answers - ever - and my message is not being returned. Is this what I have to look forward to w/ this company, or is this a fluke? Thanks.
