Mitchell
I bought a used 180 gallon truvu tank years ago and I really want to set it up. My dad built a stand for it, so I need all the equipment, but not a stand. I have saved up some money and if I sell some coral and maybe my precious clam, I should be able get $500. Is $500 enough to set up a 180 gallon reef? I know I spent way more just setting up my 55 gallon, so do you think its possible? NoobtoSalt
If you dont get rock for it you might be able to swing that but I would guess thst you would need a bunch more rock if your going from a 55. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

AquaticEngineer
I think this would be an awesome scenario to try and DIY everything that you can Buy base rock and seed it, or make your own liverock. Make your own skimmer, wire up your own lights, use an old tank as a sump, set yourself a budget make yourself a plan and the deals will come to you if your patient. Google is your friend when it comes to DIYing, pretty much if your thinking about doing it, someone else has done it, and usually made all the expensive mistakes for you and documented it so you dont have to Oh yeah, and cruise the classifieds, Craigslist, and ebay everyday like me until you find what you need.
