finch6013
Workhorse 5 ballast and 4 sets of water proof end caps. Also I have 3 DD 24'' actinic plus bulbs with two months use. I was going through all of my stuff and came up with a DD midday sun and a blue plus bulb. Also decided to add the 7 24'' reflectors. 4 are sls and 3 are icecap (I think) $
Rick
Are the endcaps shunted?
finch6013
shunted? Being an electrician, I dont think that is the term you were looking for unless I have something new to learn.
finch6013
They are the water resistant ones and have mounts if that is what you were asking.
Algae
Are the endcaps shunted? I have seen them described as shunted too. LOL http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1920023
finch6013
Well that uses the term in a little different manor than I am used to. Yes they are currently shunted, but you could easily change that with some new wire. There is just a jumper wire between them like all tombstones I have ever seen. Rick
They are the water resistant ones and have mounts if that is what you were asking. The difference between them is that with the non-shunted ones the lights just slide up in place and are held up by the spring tension. With the shunted caps there is a locking ring (usually a small green disk) that keeps the light from slipping out (It spins with the bulb at the end and turns sideways). Note this is not the waterproof cap on the outside. I'm not sure why they call them shunted rather than just saying that they have locking endcaps. Rick
Thanks, I need to do a little more checking, I'm going off what a couple of the LFS said yet that post is stating something different (which sounds more accurate to me).
