moovinfast
so my closed loop pump just died. Pretty sure it needs a new bearing. Called reeflo and the pumps out of warranty by 5 months. Should I send it back to reeflo to get fixed or find a local shop to replace the bearing? Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk
grassi
You can get the bearings from reeflo and change them yourself. It is not difficult. The pump is not running at all or just leaking?
moovinfast
It runs for a little bit and makes loud noises, then stops.
ReeFit
make sure its not the wet end maybe sucking trapped air. Can you throttle the pump down and see if it still does the same thing?
Dalbery
This is why I like having a back-up Dart pump. They are great pumps but anything can fail. I have 2 spare darts if you need one.
moovinfast
Pump wont even turn back on now. You can feel it trying to spin.
WAVES
Grassi I think your thinking of the seal not the bearings. Im not sure the AO Smith motors are serviceable. You might be able to just buy a new motor, but at that point its probably worth just buying a new pump. Im guessing its the AO Smith Dart, not the Dart Gold with the Baldor. In my opinion they are worth the extra money. I have a Baldor Dart that is 6 years old and I havent ever touched it. No seal, no bearings etc. *knocks on wood Reeflo will be discontinuing the dart with the AO Smith, soon they have a Hybrid model that will come with a snapper, and a dart (maybe a super dart) impeller in the same box. It will have neither a baldor or AO smith motor, its a new motor being made specially for Reeflo.
