BrianB
Is there anywhere that sells this other than grainger? I remember there being a grainger on swan island is there anywhere else I can get this closer to Gresham?
finch6013
go to the grainger sight and you can get a list of the locations. I know of one in clackamas and one in tigard. I just used RTV 108 and the only place I could find it was Grainger. Also make sure the tubes are no more than a year old. I got a tube from them that was dried up. Rapture Rabbit
What's the difference between rtv108 silicone, and the stuff at Petco? Just for my own education. I'm actually repairing a torn overflow in a tank I just purchased... (well, need to repair.)
finch6013
Most of the stuff at the pet shops is the same as GE silicone 1. RTV 108 is a commercial sealant and more importantly it has high adhesion that homeowner grade silicone does not have. Also RTV 108 is FDA approved. Rapture Rabbit
Ah, NICE....but hard to come by? Is it significantly more expensive too?
impur
Only sold at Grainger as far as i know. Its 10 bucks a tube. This is the only silicon that should be used on tanks, as well as RTV103 which is the black version.

Totoro
You can buy RTV 108 at amazon.com and drillspot.com -- the latter is Grainger's online "front company" which they set up to sell to the general public without diluting their brand. Drillspot.com also sells RTV 103 black silicone and, for the fashion-forward fishkeeper, RTV 102 white silicone and RTV 106 red. Clear, black, and white silicone cost less than $10 per tube; the red is very expensive at $42.49 per tube because it's made for high-temperature environments (safe to 500F instead of 400F). The entire RTV line is milspec, incidentally. Drillspot's adhesives and sealants menu page: http://www.drillspot.com/adhesives-sealants-and-tape/?brandid=784 Note that these products are listed as "GE Silicone" even though they're now made by a company called Momentive Performance Products. BrianB
I was able to go into the grainger store and get some. They asked what company I work for as they don't sell to the public. Lucilky my company had a account and I just paid for it cash.
