Lowman
Any "POS" refractometer is 1000 times better than one of those floating turds.
Algae
Any "POS" refractometer is 1000 times better than one of those floating turds. No wonder I have been having such a difficult time with my salinity. And the odor is far from pleasant.
sharoleb
I bought a refractometer - blue one, about $40 - from marinedepot a year ago and works great.
andy
Same here, my MD refract. is still working great after about 5 years. Whatever one you get, make sure you calibrate it to a known specific gravity sample (read this article) and not to RO/DI or distilled water. "Slope error" isn't unusual, and can lead to significant differences between actual and measured values.
