markdadof2
I have a hydroid issue in my tank. Naturally it is on base-rock that I would have to tear down the whole tank to clean off. Does anyone know of a good way to kill these buggars? the only thing I can think of is to use a wire brush to scrub them off while siphoning the carnage out. Thoughts? I'll buy anyone a beer that has a solution (if you are over 21). - oh, and I have not had much luck with kalk paste - way too messy and don't want to spike levels. Saltfinsax
You can try and cook them off. Take some salt water and bring to a boil in a coffee cup or something that will hold some heat. Use a Turky baster and shot them kinda slowly. this is kinda hard if you have corals that are close. If you killed them they should turn kinda red. andy
I had some and scraped them off with an x-acto knife, while slurping with a turkey baster.
impur
I covered an area in some aquamend. There were a bunch. Did the trick!
Lowman
I wonder if you coated them with gel superglue if they would die?
Mandinga
mark, what color are they? I have heard rumors of well established/aggressive rusty angels eating hydroids, but it could just be a net rumor.
markdadof2
They are an ugly tan color. Lots of them. I thought dropping my nutrient levels would wipe them out - no luck with that.
impur
I wonder if you coated them with gel superglue if they would die? That does work but you gotta do it out of the water. I tried it under water with mixed results. There were still some that could get around the superglue. I imagine it just didn't stick to an area.
