Barelycuda
The color of the lamps is irrelevant when it comes to the light fixture. If it is a M59 ballast then it should be a magnetic ballast. You should be able to use any single end bulb of the correct wattage that isn't made for an electronic ballast. I believe the radiums are meant for electronic. culp686
well, the first part of the experiment was a success. i have wired the ballast for 120v and split the case to move the mogal about 8 feet from the case. it fired right up and is running as i type. so i have a 400w metal halide that is running in my shop. the next step is to build an enclosure for the bulb so i can get rid of the ugly dome hanging from it now.
