Gabe
So I got right to work at putting the new tank together. I did a lot of practicing cutting on some scrap glass.(scary) (Kinda fun LOL) Ok so my goal was aprox. an 18x18 cube, the panels were 48x20, so I decided on 18x18x20 with a plastic false wall near the back to hide the heater, pump etc. Sorta like a cheap "Bio-Cube". Any advice, or ideas on the rear 'sump' would be appreciated. Thanks, Gabe
grassi
Looking good! Did you just use the glass cutter?
Gabe
Thanks! Yeah, I bought a $5.50 Made in America :USA:cutter at a local shop. Got a little advice, and just practiced on an old aquarium top. It was actually easier to cut the thicker glass than the thin stuff.
Rick
This thread might give you an idea or two for the sump in back. http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14514

7Max-GTE
There is such a learning curve when cutting glass, glad it worked out for you!
impur
I would use a 8 tiny strips of glass, 4 per side, and silicon them to the sides to create a sort of guide for a piece of acrylic to slide into. Then its removable for any reason that may arise. Great job on that thing, i'm going to practice on a 12x12x12 this weekend if i get time
Gabe
Thanks impur, I like the idea of being able to remove the false back. Filled it with water on Monday, no leaks yet. I have to work out of town for 3 weeks, so might just leave the water in there for a long term test. Gonna be itchin to finnish it when I get back... Thanks again guys.
