Beckie
When you fresh water dip your fish how long, and do you then slowly drip them to reaclimate them in tank drip?(scratch) Beckie
CA2OR
I fill up a small container and just drop them in there for a couple minutes....doesn't take long.
finch6013
Same. I have done it before and left them in for about ten minutes. I think it really depends on the fish. Watch it and see how its doing.
puntific
Do you observe things falling off/out of the fish?

AquaticEngineer
Make sure and adjust the ph of the water, when you fresh water dip you are really just wanting to do a no salinity dip.

Beckie
O.k. so after dipping than do you do a acclimation drip before putting back in that tank. Has any one tried antibiotics in the dip? Beckie
CA2OR
I have used TMPCC in fresh water dips and Furan2. All seemed to work the same. And I only did corals so no acclimation on my part.
Beckie
I am guessing that there must be differing way's. I have seen many treads talking about dipping but nothing detailed. I know I question for details. Beckie
pledosophy
I do them in a 5 gallon bucket for 8-10 minutes. You do need to observe the behavior of the fish during this period. Thrashing about violently is fine, if they go flat and seem to stop or severly slow breathing time to end the dip. Do match the pH and temp of the water. After the dip is over, you can just toss them back in the hospital tank. Drip acclimating them to the desired salinity would probably kill them. I have only dipped seahorses, but I have done it a hundred times or so (raising fry, and treating WC's) LMK if you have anya more questions.
