ciao
So I got a used Koralia powerhead and I finally got around to trying to test mount it last night to see where it might look good. What I found out was that the magnets aren't powerful enough to go through the glass walls of the tank! Does anybody have any good ideas on how to mount these things if this ends up being the case? ThePremiumAquarium
You could try some of those rare earth magnets. I would try getting the ones that are coated in epoxy and maybe using 3 of them per koralia. They should do the trick and hold something like 85lbs each. They can easily pull through 1" thick glass/acrylic.

gradth
How thick is your glass? I have 5 korilias on my 180 and the magnets work great.
ciao
I think it's either 1/2 or 3/4". It's a Oceanic 250G tank that measure 72x24x30?
gradth
ahh, I think mines 1/2 and they dont have any problems.
Rick
ahh' date=' I think mines 1/2 and they dont have any problems.[/quote'] It's hard to tell for certain without putting a measuring tape up to it but looking in your build thread it looks like yours is 3/8" rather than 1/2". impur
You could attach them to mag floats.
ciao
You could attach them to mag floats. I thought about doing the mag float route but then I have to get 2 floats and those sucker aren't cheap......unless somebody knows of where to get some cheap ones? But maybe it's easier then going to buy some plain magnets and trying to figure out how to stick the magnets onto the back of them
impur
Yah maybe you can find a couple used ones. If you do track down some neodymium rare earth magnets you can get casting resin from a craft store to encase them in. Like this
