cwinson85
I would really like to have a Mandarin Dragonettte in my 14b Biocube? Is it doable? can they be trained to eat prepared food? Id like to hear what people think? thanks.
Michael7979
Personally I WOULD NOT do it. I believe it is way too small of a tank to support the pod life needed. If you go to www.melevreef.com he has a thread about feeding his mandrains prepared foods.
RoseCityAquarium
There is also an article in the "coral" magazine, a few months back, about getting the mandarins to eat prepared foods.
impur
I got a spotted mandarin to eat frozen food. She was in my 29gal and did great for about 8m then jumped out. Realistically i wouldn't try it in a 14gal.
Rick
From what I've read even if you get them to eat prepared foods they end up lacking some nutrients they should be getting. I think it would be the only way one could survive in a 14g tank though as the pod population would be way too small. (I've heard they can decimate the pod population in a 100g tank within a couple of months)

CCR
My vote is NO. It may live for a bit but I think the end will be way to soon. Beautiful fish. I have a 210 and it will be another 6 to 9 months before I consider one.
Rick
... I have a 210 and it will be another 6 to 9 months before I consider one. I'm kind of in the same boat. My total system volume is about 200g but until I see a huge pod population I'm not going to get one.
