spectra
Ok for those of you running one what temps do you usually keep it at? Also what are the most common local critters to collect? I am thinking about setting one up this winter when my remodel gets finished. I have an acrylic 16 gallon tank that is rimless and 3/4 inch thick material so hopefully it will not sweat. Am just looking to get a few small nems and some snails and maybe a small fish. All info is apreciated so thanks in advance!(rock2)
Michael7979
I believe the one Steve Weast had and then sold to Randy was kept at 55 degrees. I could be wrong.... but that's what I want to say I saw it at when it was at SWF. PM Steve, Randy, or Joel (tidalsculpin).

steveweast
55 F will be OK....but, the average temp for our local stuff is closer to 50 F. Usually when I dive, it's in the high forties. You should have no problem with sweating.
Krux
If you can clean the algae off the inside of the tank without causing discomfort, then it is too warm! I think low 50's is good, but there is a pretty big range in temperate/cold water livestock source points, unlike the coral reefs which globally don't fluctuate more than 5 or 6 degrees in most places. Key is going to be determining where most of the stuff you want to keep comes from. Let me know how 3/4 inch works out for you, I've always wondered how that would work inside a home. RoseCityAquarium
I kept mine at 52 degrees. Everything thrived. Lots of deepwater anemones, lots of seapens. Found a dungeness crab with two claws on one arm. I went away for the weekend, and He ate everything in the tank.
