impur
I have a conundrum plumbing my return. I have 20" front to back inside the stand. My sump is 12" wide. The pump including plumbing to the bulkhead is 14". From the back of the stand to the rear of the sump is 3". So if i put the bulkhead in my sump at the rear corner, there is only going to be at most 1" of space between the end of the pump and the door. Thats if i plumb it like this But i would have a lot more room for the fan on the pump is i plumbed it like this I would like to go with #2, i know it will reduce the flow somewhat which isn't necessarily a bad thing. A closed loop will provide all my flow. See any problems other than lower flow plumbing it like the second pic?? In both these examples you are looking from the rear of the stand, like you are the wall.
drock59
Whats size is the intake on the pump? As long as you use big enough plumbing in relation to the intake #2 should be fine.
impur
Its 3/4, but i'll be using 1" and reducing it right where that union screws onto the pump. I think i'm definately going with #2. Gives me much more room. Thanks Dan.
fly guy
#2 is fine. : ). I will offer this though. I did some heat experiments with my pcx 55 i used to have in a tight space under my stand running my MR-2. With little to no ventilation it raised the water temp by as much as two degrees depending on house temp. I ended up raising the pump about an inch and put a full time 6" fan that was taking air from outside the canopy on it and it reduced that to way less than 1. CCR
I put sponges, under the pumps. Keeps em quieter.
impur
Yah i have a padding that will go under the pump and sump. I also have a clip on fan that will blow onto the sump. I'll have 4 fans in my canopy. My house has central air and the inside temp is maintained at 71 all day long.
