Hog Head
I got a couple of Fire Scallops at Albany's Amazing Aquarium today. Is there anything special I need to do to care for these guys?
Hog Head
Currently I am feeding the tank Phyto Feast Live and Oyster Feast.
vanz
I heard they don't live too long in an aquarium. I had one, lasted maybe a few months. However, I never did feed him, so maybe that's the trick. Good luck with yours. They are fun to watch.
Rick
When I had mine I fed it Oyster Feast. Eric (CA2OR) has it now, not sure what he feeds it now.
Hog Head
One of them immediately found a spot it liked and attached its foot, too bad it was one of the pistol shrimps openings. They have moved a little but seem to be happy. I regularly feed the tank 3ml each of the RN Phyto live (says for scallops on bottle) and Oyster feast every three days and everything has thrived and grown very well for a year and a half now. Hopefully the scallops will also. The LFS in Albany said if the scallops are healthy, it is a good indicator that clams should do well also. Has anyone else heard of this? Rick
Since they pretty much feed on the same things I would guess that is probably true. They don't suggest either one though until the tank is well established (a year or so) which is why I traded mine. (The scallops have a low survival rate and i didn't want to take a chance since my tank was only a few months established at that time)
