CA2OR
Just curious...why not DIY your own light? That will most likely be my next step.
jason7504
are you selling yours? im not good at electrical stuff lol
CA2OR
I am thinking of making a dual MH with T5 actinic's set up. Running a 250w 15k and a 250w 20k. Then having my lights run like this....1 hour T5's, 2 hour 20k, 4 hour 15k with T5's, 2 hour 20k, 1 hour T5's then the LED's the rest of the time. jason7504
that would be a cool set up..would need a few timers lol isn't that too much lighting for your tank though?
jason7504
are you selling your light then?
CA2OR
not yet....but when I do this I might. I am sure you will be set up by then. If not then I will let you know.
jason7504
how long until you do sell it?
CA2OR
it'll be a while I am sure. I need to A: get money for ballasts, bulbs, parts, reflector B: build light without wife knowing C: make light either look like this one so she wont notice, or make it look nice so she wont mind and then I can sell this one. But she flipped when I sold my 150w 20k even though it was sitting in a box when I got this one and I got a great deal from COReefer. She still wasn't happy. Just recently she started complimenting my tank again. It has been 3 months.
jason7504
thats gonna be a sweet light when you finish with it..post pics when you do why did she care if you sold the 150 if it just sat in the box?
CA2OR
Because this 250 broke down like 2 days after I got it. The ballast for the PC's failed, and the MH bulb was cracked during the move. Point being, she kept saying "you need to have a back up if this one fails again" so I do, although it isn't sufficient I have a 96w PC set up to use until I can get the light repaired if it were to fail, which hopefully would only take a day. That is the other reason I want to build my own, easier to fix.

finch6013
meaning a sunlight supply dual 250w hqi balast. If you were to retro something you would need one of those large balasts you know
Benny503
Jason, Sorry I was misleading you. I had a 150W and a 70W sunpod on my Biocube 29G. I feel that the 150W sunpod is not spreading the light all around my tank so I put the other 70W on. I saw Eric light and I like it a lot, it's a lot bright then two of my lights :-)
