I posted pic's up before when it just started turning lighter, and now under the new light it is starting to trip me out. drunkreefer Posted May 23, 2009 Share Posted May 23, 2009 Ive played around with a big array of anemone and have noticed that there color will change if there diet isnt kept up with, table shrimp silverside ect. but yours looks like its bleached out from lack of light not to much light, ask Jordan at waves his handle is ronpopeal and he is an expert for lack of a better word! Originaly, about 4 months ago, everything was in a 12g with 24 total watts of T5's, then I upgraded to a JBJ Viper2 Clip on 150w MH. About a month later I moved into a 36g with the same light. 3 months later, now, I upgraded from the clip on 150w 20k to a 250w 15k with 2x65w power compact actinic's. I staggard the lighting down to 3hrs when I upgraded to the first 150w MH and progressed to 14hrs in a months time. Now, I have started the lighting schedual at 3hrs agains, with a screen over the top of the tank, per Dsoz recommendation, to prevent burn. From everything I am hearing on RC, Reef Discussion, and calls to former LFS's, I may have too much light for my tank. It is a 36g acrylic, but only 30g for display and 6 on back for refugium. The tank is 17.5 inches deep. Parameters seem fine, Nitrate's a tad high, 0 nitrites, 0 amonia, calcium 440, PH 8.0, temp is 80, salt is 1.025. My 60g cube with 25-30g of refugium/sump was getting over 80...thus the chiller now. Something to watch closely as summer nears. These 250w halides crank out the heat! I have had to move a few to get them a little more shade for a less stressful acclimation. Here are some pic's from this morning.
