sknoch78
I am looking for some general thoughts and advice. I picked up four acro colonies yesterday at the meeting. Two of them were from the brownout special, anyway, to my surprise I ended up with four acro crabs. Does anyone know if these need to be fed? I currently have a 20g frag tank set up. I have been thinking of adding a lawnmower blenny to the tank to introduce some nutrients to the tank. Any thoughts, good, bad? Any other suggestions for a small fish? I was thinking of the blenny because they appear to have a lot of personality and I have seen them in other frag tanks. This tank will only be running for a couple of months with any luck as my 240 is not far from a water test. Any input would be appreciated. I have attached some pics for refference. R-3
Is that a Vortech I see Shawn? [language filter]!! I havent seen one in someones tank yet. I dont think they need to be fed. They do good for corals though. I have at least two of them and they are great. If you add a lawnmower blenny make sure you have enough algae for him to eat. Maybe some chromis? I think R2 said awhile back that their poop is like steroids for SPS. I dont really know if its true but ive heard it before. reefboy
well as far as the acro crabs they will catch food if it happens to float by there is some debate that they also feed on the by products the coral produce also but in my experance there good to have they keep acros clean and i also put a little flake food over them wether they need it or not as far as blenny's there good to have just make sure frags are well mounted so as not to tip over into one another as the blenny's like to purch on them other then that great clean fish also green chromis are good for feeding frags i use them in some of my prop trays for just that there upper platonic feeders so they always swim above your corals feeding them as the do there business so sounds like some great corals to start with and givin time should coral up nicely ive done well coloring up brown outs using reef solution and DT's

sknoch78
Thanks, That was the info I was looking for. I was not sure about the blenny, but if it can be fed that is perfect. Maybe I will do a couple chromis and a blenny. R-3.... As for the Vortech, they are way cool, although there are still afew bugs to be worked out. Ecotech has been great through the whole proccess. I bought 3 of them for the 240. They were one of three gambles I made on equipment. I also bought an Aquatronica controller that I have been very happy with. I also bought a PCI 3000 skimmer which I have yet to try out. So far so good but the real test will be when the big tank is up and running. sknoch78
So I was out and about yesterday and picked up a lawn mower blenny and 3 chromis. I forgot how much more interesting the tank is with fish. Thanks for the input guys. Shawn
