drock59
I adjusted my valves this morning to the proper gaps but I am still getting a knocking sound. Also, the bigger problem, i broke one of the screws holding the cylinder head cover. Aparently, i put too much pressure on it. Am I totally screwed or is there a way to get the broken off part of the screw out? Number 2 in the picture is what I broke. Any help would be great. Lowman
You can get an "easy out" at any tool dealer or parts store. You'll have to drill a small hole in the broken part of the bolt, then insert the easy out. It should turn right out. Then go buy the new bolt to replace the broken one. drock59
Cool that is what I thought. Now the question is should I try and do this myself or take it to the shop and have someone who knows what they are doing perform the operation? The broken off piece is in the cylinder head and if I screw that up, we are talking big bucks.
Lowman
In my opinion, better safe than sorry. I have all my work done in the shop.
drock59
and it looks like I will be going that route now too. Not worth the headache of moments like this. Thanks for your thoughts.

reefgeek84
A knocking sound can be many more things then valves that have lost their gap? What kind of car?
drock59
00' civic, not so much worried about the valves anymore. I need to get the nut out.
Nyles
Heli-coil if you can't get it out as lowman suggested, but only as last alternative for the screw hole, you need to be using a torque wrench on a project like that per mfg suggested torque range. Slow down and do it right with the right tools or you will just be working backwards.
reefgeek84
Easyouts, sometime work...but not always, so I would for sure let a professional handle it.

Barelycuda
Honda's are notorious for having a chirping sound. Usually the belts.
