I am wondering if someone would like to buy my complete set up of equipment, fish, invertebrates, corals, live rock and live sand. The list below is all the critters I have added over 2 years but is not complete or totally accurate- for their are multiples of many and some have perished.

  3. Nice! I've got hundreds myself. Also have many tropical pitcher plants (Nepenthes) in the GH. Also have the west coast hardy pitcher plant- the Cobra Lily- ironically the hardest of all the carnivorous plants to grow. (Used to have a carnivorous plant business.) Some pics of my CP's. Wish my corals were as easy to grow as my plants.

  4. thanks, so much to learn when you are a new reefer. This skimmer is to big for my sump and tank. Besides, I got so frustrated trying to make the vertex130 work with an extra pump and plumbing I had laying around that I just ordered a new skimmer (on sale, online).

  5. I had a 2' x 4' sand bed with the ugly brown covering (diatoms). I bought one and within 2 days it was completely cleaned white. It was continuously vacuuming it. It make tunnels thru all the rock work. Sometimes tilted my small frag islands or spit sand on some. I just used a baster and prongs to straighten and clean up some corals. I loved watching it and admired my clean white sand bed. Then it jumped out a small opening even with my glass covering. It was a sad loss.

  6. I am looking for a decent, used, protein skimmer for my 75 Gal. mixed reef tank. I already have a separate aquarium that I am setting up as my sump for an in sump skimmer. . I currently am using only a Tidal75 HOB filter. After 4 months, an upgrade is now needed for my corals and fish. I live in Vancouver, WA. I am willing to drive within the greater Portland/Vancouver area. Please PM me if you have one for sale that might work for my tank. Thanks, Andy

  7. Hi folks. I have recently (6 wks.) started a 75 Gal reef tank. I have retired from teaching, photography, and working with the dept. of fisheries with Oregon and Washington. I have a Zoology degree. I have also run a Carnivorous Plant business for many years. Its funny that I have a degree in Animals but worked with plants that act like animals, and now I am undertaking playing with animals that include plants.( I think my name will be ZooBot Andy). My tank is low tech. I did a quick cycle with live sand, bacterial solution, with Ammonium chloride. Being a senior I really don't have the years I would like to have to develop the hobby. So I pushed the process. Bought too many fish and corals too fast. Lost some fish and corals. Currently have about 30 mixed corals, I clownfish left, some snails, a star fish, and 2 camelback shrimp that the saltwater aquarium person at Petco sold me as reef safe that have been nibbling on some coral. I just got past the ugly brown stage of diatoms. doing lots of water changes to keep water parameters reasonably good. I attended the get together at Cuttlefish and Corals and get supplies, livestock, and advice from them. I have been correcting many mistakes since I started my Reef tank. (I keep wondering if maybe I should have gone fowler.) If any of you reefers out there live in Vancouver, Wa. and are willing to meet, share tanks, knowledge, get together to chat about all things reefy it would be a great help for me. You can contact me through this site or text me on cell at 360 713-7979.

    Thanks, ZooBot Andy
