  1. Thanks yeah,I do not have the space at home my wife works a preschool/ Swim Club called Samena. This where the tank is we get a good discount on school and I get a 200$ a month. It’s one block away from my home. I have my apex system monitor the tank. My wife loves reefs too, so helps feed once a day.
I also just got picked by BRS for the Brightwell Coral aminos Before and after tank shots. The tank is doing phenomenal. My Kalk reactor is at max saturation and started dosing 2 part a week ago. Here is a couple pics just taken.

It’s a 230 gallon glass Peninsula the dimensions are 60”x36”x24” tall. It’s been 6 months from start to Finish. I’m now 12 weeks in since the tank got wet. I built the frame, wood skins and hood for the stand, all DIY.

The stand is built out of 2x2 square tubing. It’s powder coated black. All the wood panels are wrapped in vinyl. With magnets glued to the back panel. To give that flush look. For sump and Equipment, I have 39 Trigger emerald sump with 2 10 gallon ATO extensions. This makes my sump 60 gallons over all. I have 55 watt UV Sterilizer that runs 24/7 on Mighty jet DC pump makes water crystal clear. For return pump I’m running a Jabeo 15000 lieter P/H pump. A reeftek Kalk reactor that is fed by My Apex ATK. The ATO tank is 20 gallons. I’m running the new REDSEA 600 skimmer that I love. For the fuge it has a Kessil H80 grow Light. The heart of the tank is the apex. right now I have 2 Eb832s the brain and FMM,ALD,ATK soon to add the DOS. For the lighting a 48” 8 bulb geissmann t5 matrix II fixture and 2 Orphek OR2 120 light bars. For powerheads In the tank I have 2 3K Gyres.

Please feel free to ask questions

  5. I am nearly positive its a 2inch bulkhead. That is what they advertise on the website but I never did double check. This is also why I drilled a 3 inch hole. I emailed the company Thursday and am waiting to hear back.

I think I may be alright if I cut a bigger gasket since the actual internal box and external box will be against the tank, not the bulkhead...

I will take pictures on tuesday when I get home from work and post an update.

here is a link to the box I bought. It is constructed great! I just wish it came with some instructions on hole size.

    http://modularmarine.com/collections/overflow-boxes/products/2400-gph-low-profile-overflow-box-bulkhead-mounted-aquarium-surface-skimmer

So reading the site you posted. You should have 5 bulkheads 2 2" and 3 1-1/2" bulkheads you might be using the 1-1/2" instead. Will be better with pics on Tuesday

  6. I am in the process of setting up a 180gal acrylic tank. I bought a sweet low profile overflow box from modular marine and they use two 2inch bulkheads to connect the exterior box.

The internet told me to use a 3inch hole saw. I sized up the the saw to bulkhead and it looked to be good until after i put 2 holes in the back of my tank. If i position the bulkhead in the center of the hole, the gasket and nut just barely make contact with the edges of the hole.

I plan on trying to use a bigger gasket, but are there any other suggestions to help make this a more reliable seal?

I have since found out that the proper hole size is 2 7/8 inches...

The proper whole size is 3" for a 2" bulkhead. Are you sure you have 2" bulkhead take a piece of 2"pvc and see if it slips in the bulkhead. My guess is you don't have a 2" bulkhead. Looked at several sites they all say 3" even live aquaria please send pictures

  7. Where's the tank at? You mentioned something about a club.

The tank is at Samena swim club in Bellevue.

Unfortunately I lost over 1000$ worth coral. The eheim jager heater was set for 77 degrees. It never turned off got up to 86 degrees. Killed most my SPS and 40+ heads of my LPS. Here are some new pics and video. Luckily I didn't loose any fish. Also upgrade my sump to a 120 gallon and bought a new skimmer. I redid all the plumbing so I can take it apart to pull the sump in and out of the stand. The inside of tank had boxes in it when picked up from Franks. Unfortunately this scratched the tank pretty bad

  8. Congrats on the new tank (is that Frank's?). Would love to have something that size but no where to put it. Looking forward to seeing this up and running - and the crosshatch triggers, those are beautiful fish! Good luck.
