Approximately 60-70 lbs live rock, $2 lb. Full of brittle stars and limpets, as well as a few snails and maybe even hermits. Some pieces have kenya tree or pulsing xenia on them, and one has a fist size Devil's Hand on it. Mix of medium large and some rubble, several larger pieces. Tank is being broken down, fish are gone, so it's ready to go. Pick up is 15 minutes south of Olympia, Rochester WA.

Peppermint shrimp fall under "tank maintenance". They work for a living. Jsut be sure to get at least 3 each tank... they're fun to watch... (whistle)

Maybe install eye bolts on the frame, small eye bolts on the reflector, and use a lock-link to connect them. Cable tie electrical cord out of the way- you would also then be able to adjust the height of the lights if you needed by adding chain links.

The tank can't be longer than 24", and not wider than 14". Height can be basically anything, the trick is that I want to do a nano peninsula tank. Building one myself is beyond my capabilities and budget- but it's a great idea.

I have a really specific space to put a tank in, while a 20 would fit a 25 would be better of course. Any suggestions are welcome, and will travel for the right tank and price.

This thread has been around for a while, so forgive me for hijacking it. I was given a couple chunks of rock, and on the top of one is something that looks almost exactly like this. The one I have has no color at all, and has small pointed tentacles. I don't have a way to get a picture of it, sorry. I thought it might be a rhodactis of some sort, after much searching, it's hard to tell as it was unhappy and starved. Does pointed tentacles mean rhodactis, and rounded ends on the tentacles mean anemone? It may also be a rock flower anemone- it hasn't moved at all. It does seem to like targeted feeding of cyclopeeze every few days, it's gotten a little fuller and tentacles are bigger. I've only had it about a week. Any other suggestions? Will it recover?

Thanks for the welcome! I do occasionally stray down below- I have family in the Eugene OR area and often get to Vancouver. I hope to have something to trade later in the year, for now I'm just slowly building up to adding the softies. My tanks are unfortunately not my primary hobby, my dogs are, but I've enjoyed learning the SW details and I can sit for ridiculously long periods of time and watch the fish and hermits.

The quote about Rome not being built in a day is too funny- Rome is the name for my dogs and it's been over 20 years now that I've been known for them. That's one long day.

I'm new here, don't usually post much, and don't have any pics of my nano-cube. I joined because I'm in the south sound area, and might actually get to meet some folks.

I have my first SW tank, have had freshies (and still have one) for many years, but am still learning. I did a sterile start to the tank, after following recommendations from another source, and took my time. I think it ran three months before any livestock went in. So far only a CUC of hermits and snails and a couple of damsels (they're staying, I like the little devils). Hoping to add some softies soon, have some macroalgae on the way. Everything has been very stable so far-
