  1. I'm moving out of state and breaking down my 120. I've got lots of caps I'm breaking up and donating to Seahorse Supply, but you can have some if you want. I've got some orange, Idaho grape, green with purple edge, and flower petal. My tank is wild, meaning there's lots of xenia and gsp, but it's super easy to break off chunks of caps that are free and clear. Just being up front. I'm in NoPo, and I'm too busy packing to travel anywhere

  2. I'm getting rid of some old PFO ballasts.  I have (2) 150w HQI, (1) 250w HQI, and (1) dual 175w.  I think they all work, though the dual 175w never seemed as bright as running the two 150''s.  I just got tired of the buzzing so I switched to electronic ballasts.  Free if you want them, I'm in NoPo.

  3. FWIW - I've been wanting a school of these as well. Last year, I ordered 8 or 9 of them from Blue Zoo Aquatics. Three of them were DOA, another three were gone within 24 hours. They looked quite thin when they arrived and then did not eat well during the next couple of days. I discussed this with Blue Zoo and they acknowledged that these fish are terrible shippers and that 50%+ loss during shipping was almost typical. They did credit me so that was cool, but none of the LFS here carry them and I'm hesitant to have more shipped. Would be interested to know your success rate with these guys.

Check out this person's site. He also had some recommendations regarding shipping and claims a 90% survival rate.

  4. I picked up a few pieces from someone on this site last year. When I got it home I found it had a bunch of mojanos on it. The outside temperature during the next 24 hours was down into the 20's, so I decided to experiment with it - I pulled it out of the water, wrapped it in a plastic bag, and let it sit on my porch for a day. The next day, I took the frozen rock out of the bag and placed it directly back into my tank. Since this was a new setup, I wasn't worried about the water temp dropping. The next time I saw those mojanos, they were shriveled up, fell off the rock, and more or less disappeared. Never seen another one since.

I was hoping that the beneficial bacteria could survive the deep freeze.
