  1. Looks good! Really similar to what I did with mine (gotta love the price of 2x4's) but I opted not to use the framing metal as I felt 2x4's were overkill as it was. That thing sure will be solid! Keep us updated, I like pictures. :)

  2. I've got a 29 gallon that I was going to use as a sump that is 1/2" too big to fit in the bottom of the new stand I made. If you've got a 10 gallon, I'd trade you, otherwise I'd take 10 bucks for it so I can go get me a 10 gallon. :P It's the standard 29 gallon, glass, black plastic trim, and it has a dark blue painted background that can easily be removed (yay for acrylic hobby paint) if needed.

  3. I don't have a picture, but I can go take one if needed. It's old, but it works. I got it from someone at a meet at least four years ago for 15 bucks. I don't know what brand it is becuase that stuff has been marked over with a black pen for some reason. Might be good as a backup or a cheap startup. Oh, its just the ballast, too. No cords. I'd be willing to bring it to the BBQ and trade it for a frag or whatever. Or you could just have it if you need it. :P I'd rather have someone that needs it using it than keep it on my shelf.

  4. I've got a nikon d80 and my best pics so far have come from the sigma 17-70 macro lens that I have for it. It won't do 1:1, though, but I like that its variable and not prime. Really I just need to spend more time on it, cause, like you said, 1 in 50 or so are decent :P I really like that pod shot!

  5. Wow, you take some amazing photographs. Care to share any tips? :) What sort of equipment are you using?

I really like the cleaner shrimp picture. Your focal length is really good. I can never seem to get that much of mine in focus even if I stop down a lot.

  6. I wrote it out, then realized what it might mean, and then decided to leave it becuase I figured it would generate some interest in my post.

So is the verdict that they are no longer in production? I wish they had an Aquarium ikea around here so you could just walk through and see all the tanks set up in different rooms and stuff. :P

  7. Fyi, the all-glass version isn't tempered and has no brace. The "perfecto" version has a brace and also has the bottom tempered. The 40 breeder is sorta like a smaller 75 gallon. Good front to back depth, but shallower than a lot of aquariums.

  8. I think a 15" tall canopy might look sorta silly on a 16" tall aquarium. :)

Yeah, i've considered the teks, but I'm just not sure I wanna do all t-5s and no halides. I need to check on that 8 bulb system they used to make. That would be nice. I could retrofit myself a 6 light setup with individual reflectors, too, but I really want that halide look.

If I had a nice tall aquarium like your 90 I'd be good to go with the lumenarc. I should just find myself a nice 30 cube, or one of those slightly wider 50's. Not as much linear distance to cover. That or get two bulbs.

  9. If anyone is interested I have some various softies I can frag. I've got a bunch of decent sized toadstool leathers, too. I'm really interested in getting some green candycane and a frogspawn (etc) again. I had some a while back but gave it away when I left. I don't have a whole lot, but I do have some nice stuff. PM me if you're interested and I'll see about getting some pics (I have a tank thread, too, btw). I'd love to meet some of you and get back into frag trading like the good ole days.

  10. I need help deciding which reflector to use. It's going to be a 175w halide w/ t-5 actinics. I was originally thinking of getting a lumenarc mini but I'm not sure that I'll get enough spread on a 36" long tank without putting it really high above the water. I'm thinking that maybe a parabolic reflector would be better for a longer spread?
