  1. I think this maybe the wrong area for this post but I kill the aptasia in my tank by injecting pure calcium into them with a insulin syringe its a PIA though cause you have to individually hit each one and you have to do it fairly often to keep them under control.

Ive heard peppermint shrimp eat it but ive had no luck because my hawk fish usually eats them immediately.

  2. Well this weekend I found a killer deal on a cold water set up so ive decided to start a cold water tank. this hobby lead me to start diving and since I started diving and learned what cool stuff there is up in the sound ive been thinking about doing a cold tank for a while now.

the tank is a marineland ML-24BW commercial tank like the ones you see in the grocery stores. the tank is 110 gallons and came complete with skimmer, uv sterilizer, return pump, 1/2hp chiller, and flourecent lights I managed to pick the whole thing up for $200

it needs to be cleaned up a bit but not too bad this is going to be a fairly slow build but should be fun. if anyone one else dives and wants to go on some collecting trips hit me im always down to dive.

heres some picks of the tank.

  3. thanks for the quick replies. I have this stuff called ich attack made by kordon it says its reef safe and is 100% organic but im just nervous about adding stuff like this to my tank. idk should i give it a shot? also i think ill start feeding with garlic again see if that helps.

  4. so today i noticed my blue tang has ich pretty bad but i can not figure out where it came from ive had this tang for about 1 1/2 years and hes been doing great i quarantine all fish before there are introduced to the tank and have had no problems with ich since my first bad out break of it almost two years ago. the most recent additions have been a mandrin goby which went thru quarantine and a fresh water dip before entering the tank about a month ago and i have added some new corals over the last few weeks and a ton of snails last week probably all most 200 of them. can the ich come in with the snails or maybe some corals because niether of them went through a quarantine. so for my next step what do i do try and catch him and treat him or is there something i can add to the tank or let nature take its course?

    any input is appreciated thanks
