  1. For sale. Dual Sunlight Supply HQI 250 watt halides with three month old phoenix bulbs.

The ballasts were made in '05. I haven't used them in almost a year, but they worked flawlessly for me.

This would be a great starter setup for someone looking to get good lights for a good price.

The hooks on top could use some paint or replacement.

  2. I have used Vortech and Tunze's for years. I find that you get what you pay for and that means customer service too. :)

I had some issues with my wetside a while back. I simply called them, gave them my serial number and they sent me a new one. Awesome.

  3. I am going to build another LED array for the frag tank and then convert the main tank to LED. Im very impressed with them thus far. They have been up and running for about 8 months. Some folks have complained they lose color under LED, but mine have done well.

  4. Just for giggles I took some pics of my frag tank, lit by 12 LED's and a few of the main tank with the lights out.

I used my speed light on the main tank with the lights out, which I didnt think would turn out very well.

  5. I second the "go big or go home" advise. I wish my first tank would have been much larger, so I would not have had to put all the time and money into setting up various upgrades over the years.

I would also, encourage your friend to look at a bunch of different tanks to really figure out what they like the best. Again, I wish I would have done this years ago, so I wouldn't have bothered with my standard 55g or 90g tall, and would have gone straight for the cubish style of tanks.

  6. Seperating them is the problem. One is encrusting and it grows over every thing. Bright purple and encrusting. Cant remember the name.

I was thinking of just taking the big colonies off and bleaching the rock that the purple stuff is growing on. The efflo can be kept back by just breaking off pieces.

I thought about laying down a barrier of super glue, but that is only temporary. (scratch)

  7. What do you do when corals are getting too close to each other and killing one another?

I have several pieces that are trying to kill each other off and I am looking for ideas. The culprits seems to be encrusting corals and efflo's.
