Chindo
I was wondering if this was to much wattage for my 40B that Im building... I was planing on putting some T-8 too with the MH in the middle... What do you guys think should i use a lower wattage ballast?? I had this ballast and bulb combo from a Hydroponics setup i had, veggies not herbs (laugh)
ReeFit
i ran a 400w on a 40, you just have to set it up higher so you don't smoke your livestock.
Michael7979
That's a ton of light for a 40B! But as stated with extra precautions it can be done.
Rick
It can be done but I would suggest a 250w instead which is what I ended up doing. (I was having problems keeping the tank cool) I was able to swap my ballast with another member here. I would go with T5's instead of T8's. You will get a lot more light per watt if you do. OwenReefin
I second the T5 choice, lots more options also.
defigart
I run 250W DE on my 40Breeders. Plenty of light, and heat wont be as big an issue in the warmer months. I also run 2 T5 with them.
