KTHOM
The nano has been cycling for about a month now. Water balancing out. No fish for the cycle just live rock and sand. When do you start water changes again?
414driver
Have you had an ammonia spike? What are your current test results? Have you added anything to spike the ammonia? Or was the rock and sand from the 125 gallon?
KTHOM
Everything is balanced back out. It was brand new out of box. Added some live rock and sand with ammonia from Seahorse. Done with brown and green alagea cycles. Getting ready to head out to some local shops but wondering if a change should be done first? ReeFit
you don't need to change the water until you actually have something that warrants a change. IE, corals eating up the trace elements, fish putting toxins in the water, high levels of toxic bacteria, high levels of phosphates. if your parameters are fine, start putting live stock in and change your water at least once every 2 weeks, at about 10% volume. kendaroo
Yes, do a water change. If you are done cycling, it means that the ammonia has been converted to nitrite, which has been converted to nitrate - i.e., your tank should have high nitrates. That warrants a water change. So do a water change, and start slowly adding your livestock. After that, you should be fine with a 10% water change every week, and have fun!
