Islandoftiki
Does anyone have experience keeping a Pom Pom crab and a Peppermint shrimp together in the close quarters of a 2 gallon pico? I had to re-home the Peppermint shrimp's previous tank mate, a small Fire Shrimp, because the fire shrimp was a particularly aggressive one and was causing problems for multiple inhabitants, so he got re-homed. I'd like to add a Pom Pom crab since the majority of anecdotal evidence suggests they are very peaceful. One person said their peppermint and pom pom lived together in the same little cave. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I've heard everything from pom poms being the ideal tank invert to they voraciously ate every zoa in the tank. So, I'm looking for a little middle ground. Obviously, every individual creature will have it's own unique personality, so it may be a crap-shoot.
MVPaquatics
I think that they should be ok. My peppermints seem to only squabble amongst themselves
Islandoftiki
I think I'll give a Pom Pom a try. Now, the trick is to actually find one. Every single LFS is completely out of them. "Oh, we usually have a bunch of those..." Looks like I'm going to have to special order one. Which Portland area fish store is reliable about ordering special stock? Islandoftiki
Update: They get along great. They often hang out in the same cave together. Good combination of entertaining characters for a pico reef.
Islandoftiki
Speaking of pom pom crabs, mine has two gigantic anemones, if anyone has a pom pom that's missing it's anemones, I'd be happy to host it for a little while to see if mine will share part of his.
