  1. January check in time for lucky #13 I think it's getting wider... And polyps have been popping. I think it's getting cozy in it's place 20230130_142606.mp4
  2. Oooolala not so much doing a January check in as I am bragging. I bumped the blues up 10% and the polyps are poppin more than they ever have. There is even some light blue, which I'm assuming is a sign of growth. Happy 2023 from #13.
  3. Lucky #13 checking in for December. No signs of growth but looking slightly pinker... And most importantly not bleached out. See you next year
  4. Okay, 13 reporting in. I have had this frag for 2 weeks but hopefully it is at it's ugly low point now. I heard coral likes stability, so I moved it to a new tank, got it new lights and new flow and then moved it around a few more times. Now a 55 gallon tank... Does touching saltwater alter your brain somehow? Anyway... This is my new low point. Looking forward to watching this thing grow (and hopefully not die).
  5. So, I did the thing you aren't supposed to do. I went to a fish store, and got a fish without doing any research. It was black Friday, I was looking for a wrasse to eat pests, and the dude said don't get a lemon wrasse, they can be jerks, get this black leopard wrasse. It's an awesome looking fish, I tell him I have a 55 gallon tank, he said it should be fine. So I get it. Get home, look it up and see this is a fish that requires expert care. I was given copper at the store to treat my wrasse in quarantine. I did a bit of research and found that leopard wrasses are very sensitive to copper, so I went and did a methelyne blue dip. (This stuff is supposed to work wonders, but warning: it stains everything blue and it's very hard to see the fish to net it out) Okay, so fish is dipped, but only eating copipods. Tried making brine shrimp as cheap alternative, kinda worked... Best food choice to get finicky wrasse eating prepared foods: Masstick - it sticks to glass! Got masstick 14, added 7 ml of water, a cube of frozen shrimp, a bit of metro+ and a bit of focus to get this guy some meds. You kneed it all together in the bag, and it freezes for a month. It's a bit expensive, but cheaper than copipods and you can mix meds in. So, day 2 of putting Masstick in the tank and the wrasse is eating. Hurray! It's been 5 kinda stressful days. But now finicky wrasse is eating and I am hopeful it will do well. Each day it spends more time out of the sand. If anyone has any tips on how to get my fish eating frozen food out of the water column I'd love to know.
  6. @reefrun @obrien.david.j First submission! Tank: 10 gallon with Aquaclear 70 HOB, running a bubbler in hob cuz low ph and running cheap ATO. running Aqua knight AO29 light @ 100% blue and trying to get up to 80% white but typically about 40% on whites. Super budget build. Parameters: low ph, low calcium, low magnesium, everything else is okay. The tank was born on October 8th so it's still figuring things out. Maintenance: Daily 30 oz water change. That's it. Kinda sucking up diatoms with turkey baster and replacing about a quart of saltwater a day. let's hope tank stabilizes and my coral grows! I'll throw in a full tank shot for fun good luck everyone!
  7. I have a month old 10 gallon tank and I am ready to see what it can do! Sign me up please.
