  1. I nominate @obrien.david.j I second @Micah
  2. I can't wait to hear about your first dinner guest who mistakes this for a self-serve lemonade station. 🤣
  3. Nice shots. What camera and lens? A couple of shots appear to have some distortion. Are you keeping the lens exactly perpendicular to the tank glass? If not, the glass refracting the light distorts the final image.
  4. All, If you intend to post anything for sale in our forums, please remember the rules: If you are intending to SELL something, place your ad in the Classified Threads subforum, not in the General or in the Want to Buy / Trade subforum. You must list a price for each item. Your ad will not be approved and will remain hidden from the forum users until it meets the requirements and is approved by a Moderator. Please follow these rules. Each of us Moderators are constantly needing to remind people who post without following the rules, and it is time consuming. Remember, we are only volunteers here and are not compensated in any way for our time. Full details on the rules are listed here:
  5. Thank you @Chief for always being on top of these elections. And thank you to all of my fellow Officers for volunteering to serve. I look forward to another successful and productive year with this great club!
  6. We had a great turnout for today’s meeting with about 18 people despite the rainy weather! Thank you all for making the trip, and a special thank you to Sid @IntoTheMystic for hosting and giving us a great tour and Q&A on quarantine practices. We hope to do this again next year!
  7. The wife & I plan to have brunch before the meeting, then we have reservations for dinner at 6pm, so we'll skip the put luck to save our appetites.
  8. No signup that I'm aware of. Feel free to post what you plan to bring and maybe others will follow your lead.

  10. Bump... This is a great deal for someone wanting a complete system, or even for someone just looking to turn a profit on reselling the individual components.
  11. This is the world-famous SuncrestReef Apex-controlled Red Sea Reefer XL 425 as documented in my detailed Reef2Reef build thread, and the system that I referenced when I wrote my highly popular series of Apex tutorial articles. The original retail price for all of this equipment was over $12,000. I am offering the complete system for sale at a steeply discounted package price of $4,000. If it is not sold within two weeks, I will consider parting out the individual components. However, the pricing on this complete package will be substantially better than buying the individual components. The Apex has been reset to factory defaults and will need to be programmed from scratch, but I can provide a copy of the complete configuration for reference. $4,000 for the complete system. Cash or PayPal. You pick up at my house in Beaverton. Here's a photo and video of the tank at its peak: Package includes: Red Sea Reefer XL 425 (88 gallon display) with black cabinet Trigger Systems Platinum 34 gallon sump with automated 10” roller filter. Increases the total system volume to 122 gallons, 10 gallons larger than with the stock Red Sea sump. Sump includes built-in probe holder, 4 built-in dosing tube holders, and an adjustable baffle to adjust the size of skimmer and refugium chambers. Two additional rolls of filter fleece included. Each roll lasts approximately 2 months depending on bio load. No more cleaning filter socks!!! 12. You're like the pot calling the kettle black...🙄
  13. One more note about the Aux power adapter: It can be used to power the Apex base unit if you don’t own an EnergyBar. In this configuration the Apex would only be used to monitor an aquarium, but not actually control any devices.
  14. If you read the tutorial carefully, I explain that the aux power adapter is how the Apex detects when the power fails. The aux adapter is an optional component purchased separately because the Apex is normally powered through the AquaBus cable plugged into the EnergyBar. In this configuration, the EnergyBar is plugged into the UPS battery, so when the power goes out the EnergyBar still has power, but the Aux power adapter goes dead, so the Apex knows there’s a power outage. Think of it this way: the aux power adapter is not being used to power the Apex, but instead acting as a sensor.
  15. @Chief Thanks for always being on top of these elections!
  16. Be sure to check out all the other tutorial topics in my Apex series: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/authors/suncrestreef.93940/
  17. If you have an Apex, it can be integrated with a UPS battery to detect when there’s a power failure and turn off high-powered devices to preserve the battery life for water movement. It can also send you an alert about the power. I explained how to do this in my tutorial on Apex Power Monitoring: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/neptune-apex-programming-tutorials-part-4-power-monitoring.698/ (scroll down about half way to the section on UPS)
  18. You choose which items you want to enter raffle tickets for.
  19. The group buys are now closed. Here's a summary of the lucky winners. 55 people collectively claimed 200 frags. @Parzifal and @jtarmitage got the most at 10 each! All frags will be available for pickup at tomorrow's meeting/party at Cuttlefish & Corals starting at 1:00 pm.
