  1. So, forgive me, I’m still under a year with corals and have a lot to learn. My coral are now absorbing alkalinity, so I’m dosing about 20 ml of Fritz 2 part Alk. I am not dosing the cal or mg yet as I would like those lower still. Cal closer to 430, mg closer to 1380 ish. So, I always thought when you dose ALK, your cal goes down some, then when you dose Cal, your Alk goes down a bit. Why in the world is my cal and mg rising when I dose my Alk?!?!?! I’m so lost.
  2. Very exciting!!! Love the upgrades and seeing it all come together! Thank you for sharing your journey of your upgrade along the way!
  3. I’d be interested in the CSB!!
  4. I have a great 120 that @obrien.david.j is familiar with. Picked it up but upgraded before I ever got to set it up. It's yours if you want it! Downside is, I'm in Kennewick, WA. I come down occasionally to play at Lincoln City and oggle at CNC, but as of right now, no trip is planned. If you want to come get it, it's yours!
  5. Looks like a great party! Wish I could have been there, next time!
  6. Thank you everyone for all the advice and knowledge. I will put acros on the back burner for now and wait for my tank to get some time under its belt. @reefrun I just got 2 ICP test kits and plan on sending one out Monday, I’ll post what that comes back with. @goldenbasketreef My water parameters have been pretty stable which is one of my frustrations. I’ve been wanting my ALK and CAL to drop some and it’s been just hanging out having a good time with where it’s at. LoL. Even with not dosing. Just this week my CAL started to lower (5 ppm) but hopefully that means the coral I do have is starting to use the CAL in the water and will lower is slowly over the next bit. Then as I dose more CAL, ALK will lower. I test weekly for all my water parameters and 4x daily for ALK, CAL, MAG. @DaveZ I am starting to get spots of purple and some of orange as well. I have been told the orange is coralline as well? Still pretty new though for sure, so I will wait for a lot more coverage before dipping my toe in the acro pool. The flesh started coming off from the bottom, then the top half just all went over night. I’m looking at adding 2 more mp-40s and 1 more mp-10, so we will see how that helps with the top flow too. @Kerbash yea, I would love my ALK to be lower, just couldn’t find a way to bring it down. Everything I researched said, “just wait, your coral will absorb it and it will go down naturally”. I should have taken that to mean, “your tank is still establishing itself, be patient…” but that’s not me, lol. I thought I could be patient enough that dry rock wouldn’t be a problem and the live sand would help; but wow, knowing what I know now, I would have gotten all live rock! Thank you again everyone for your insight and the offering of frags!! I will reach out once I have a TON of coralline and have a good go with some birds nest.
  7. I posted in the General topic with a lot more information. I didn’t want to side track this thread too much.
  8. @obrien.david.j I have 3, spaced about 18” apart.
  9. Welp. . . Need help. . . Ideas. . . Anything! I started this 210 in Jan this year with dry rock and live sand. Added first fish in June, then some soft coral about a month after. Torches are doing good, gargonia and gonis doing great, even accans and sculys doing good. Acro on the other hand. . . Dies. . . Stripes the flesh and pops white. Sadly,2 coral have been killed in this tank thus far. current parameters: ALK: 9.6 CAL: 485 MAG: 1405 Nitrates: 54.9 Phosphates: 0.59 PH: 8.1 Temp: 78.1 I have not been dosing anything as I am wanting cal to be about 430 and alk to be 8.6-9. I have a sump with cheato, skimmer running, 1 mp-40, 1 mp-10, and 2 small no name power heads until I can get more mps. ‘’Running XR-30 pros, g5 at 9” above the water set to 86% intensity. They turn on at 8am with a ramp up to 12:30 being full, then begin ramp down at 16:00 (4pm) till 20:00 (8pm) off and go into moon phase according to cycle. I don’t have a par meter, so that’s the only thing I am really questioning, but seems the par meters have disappeared from the thread, so I am ordering one today because I really want to have acro in my tank and flourish. any other thoughts or ideas that might be an issue? Willing to call, FaceTime, cook you dinner if you want to go north (Tri-cities, WA). . . Lol
  10. It is with heavy heart I post today. . . I am out of the grow out. . . My frag has crossed to deeper waters. . . I wish I knew why so I could correct my tank so I can keep acros… if anyone has ideas, please let me know. I am also going to post for help in another topic string. Good luck to all and grow strong! @reefrun @obrien.david.j
  11. This looks neat, I’m excited to hear what you think. Is this like other epoxies where you need to turn your skimmer off for a few days as well so it doesn’t go crazy?
  12. Thank you @Emerald525! I’m excited to be apart of such a great group and be in my first grow out!
  13. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, reefers around the world. . . *takes top hat off* you are cordially invited to observe the frag of frags. . . The frag that will lead the charge and give all others a run for their money. . . Behold. . . Frag number 14!!! This beauty lives in a 210 display with a 60 sump. Faux sun provided by 3 XR30 Pros. Temp: 78.1 PH: 8.14 ALK: 10.8 CAL: 509 MAG: 1460 Nitrate: 29.8 Phosphate: 1.70 Currently dosing Phosphate rx. Starting height: 2.4cm (with rules on plug) Thank you @obrien.david.j and @reefrun for this fun grow out! Best of luck to everyone and happy growing!! Side note, this is my first grow out and I am just getting into sps corals, so any tips, tricks, or advice is always welcome. 😉
  14. @obrien.david.j I will be picking up this weekend. I’m just not sure on the time yet, it will be Saturday though. I should be able to give you a time by Friday if that’s ok??
  15. Oh no @reefrun, I'm sorry to hear this and hope you're doing ok! I am coming from the Tri-Cities, so it all depends on how you're feeling. I don't mind coming to pick up this weekend so long as you are up for it. Don't want you to miss out on recovery, soup, and sleep! 😉
  16. I love my Apex and have had it for about 6-8 months ish. I have used it mostly as a monitor helper with my parameters, and have been turning my equipment off on the app for my feedings rather than having it programmed to Feed A, B, C, or D. I'm just starting to play with the automation for the feeding cycle and wondered what everyone else uses their Apex for. So, let's hear it! What all does your Apex take care of for the most part, so you don't have to. I am ready to take my tank to the next step. . . well. . . as soon as I learn how to program this thing correctly. That being said, if you want to leave some of the coding you use. . . . 😉 that would be amazing!!! I'm currently reading SuncrestReef's articles on Apex and my lighters are burning up! I love the information! Thanks all, hope you chime in and maybe someone others will benefit also!
  17. Did you mean stand and canopy? Not seeing the 32 cube and I don't think you'd sell it for $20.
  18. I'm absolutely in!!! Be careful though. . . this is my first grow out. . . luck is on my side!!!
  19. Sorry things are so busy for you, hope things get better and your able to get a tank going again. Until then, good luck with the sales!
  20. I just got a ganiastrea, should I dip it or not? I’m still learning about coral and what to dip and not, any help would be great. Not finding anything online. thanks, Bradley UPDATE: I did dip it and looks great so far!
  21. That makes sense, ok, thank you @itotiani!
  22. So, I'm new to coral and have 2 pieces; my question is, doesn't dipping the coral get rid of the pest? Can some pest still survive the dip? I have Red Sea Coral Induction Bath Dipx.
  23. Looks like a great tank! Excited to see it come together again!
